The World Cup 2006 in Germany

Just a comment, if you are using a large screen outdoors I am assuming it is a projection unit. The image quality will have more to do with the capabilities of the projector than the inbound signal. Not all projectors can support a true HDTV image without compressing and translating the image into the native format of the chip inside the projector.

my two cents worth

Yeah, i know.
We have a back projection screen unit reserved but are really concerned about the quality and the weather(too much sun and rain).

That´s why we are thinking about moving the large screen to the tent.

The problem here is that there are very few projectors that have enough power(lumen), support a native 16:9 format and have enough resolution to support a 20m²-30m² big screen.

Most projectors in this class are CINEMASCOPE at a ratio of 20:9 and a footy game would look a bit unnatural.

Hmmmm, not if you buy a decoder on eBay or somewhere and get a Sky TV card.....

Some kind soul may agree to bring theirs from the UK (decoder & card), which will work providing that you can get the Sky signal there?

I use mine mobile in the caravan all the time without a hitch.

I would bring mine for you, but the wife is staying home and will probably want to watch it.......if you are really stuck Berni I will beg it from her if it helps you out, and see what she says (unless somebody can bring theirs if it is not needed at home?)

The signal is no problem, so if anybody could bring their card with them we could watch all the games in HDTV.
