Is singing songs about the war really racist? We are just proud of our country and remember what are grandparents had to go through. Fifa should spend more time getting rid of the Spanish and Italian scum fans that racially abuse players every week! And to suggest we sing in German is a piss take! I can't wait to get to the campsite and sing a few songs and have a bit of friendly banter with supporters of other countries- including Germans! At the end of the day we can all have a beer together! Who agrees?

It's not racist, just a bit sad and pathetic and something most of Europe would rather forget about. Just what did your grandparents do in the war? Mine were deported from there home, sent on a 3 week journey in cattle trucks into Siberia, whilst my grandfather was murdered by the Russians and dumped in a mass grave along with 4500 of his army comrades. My father nearly died of dysentry and my family had to start their lives all over again as exiles in a foreign country where they weren't particulary welcome. (Going home would have resulted in another one way trip to Siberia, as many unfortunate souls found out.)

The thing about that story is it is not remotely unique which is why we don't really like to talk about the war.

i agree wi engerlass why shouldn't england fans sing about the war?? if you dint sing any song that offended or upset anyone then a lot of songs would be wiped out at football !! wot wud u sing about the referee or fat ppl for example this is jus political nonsense again from the irish one..let ppl sing wot they want within the law..also the definition of race is colour !! did u not go to school?? u can only be racist to another race not another religion or any other ppl..roll on Saturday..Mariners promotion day
