The first phase of Euro 2008 ticket sales began on March 1st 2007 and ended on the 31st of March. Applicants will be informed in mid April about their status of the Tickets.In the first phase three ticket types were made available.

Individual match tickets(IMT). Applicants can pick and choose any Euro2008 match. Applications are possible for one match per day and for up to 4 persons per match only.

Prices for individual match tickets depend on where you are seated. As you would expect, tickets in the pit behind each goal are the cheapest with main stand tickets the most expensive. The opening match will cost between €70 and €250. Matches in the group stages range from €45 - €110. Prices increase as the tournament progresses with the quarter final costing €60 - €180, the semi final €80 - €300 and the final coming in at a whopping €160 - €350.

Follow my team(FMT). Follow my team tickets are split into two sections. Each applicant can purchase up to 4 FMT tickets and must choose one country to follow.

FMT Group Tickets - Follow your chosen country through every group game. FMT group tickets cost €240 with a €90 surcharge if your country plays in the opening match.

FMT Tournament Tickets - Allows applicants to follow their chosen country through to the final. Every match is included and should your country go out before the final, payment for the invalid tickets will be refunded.

There is a hafty 10% service charge for FMT tickets.

Tickets are available exclusively through euro2008.com. Officials at UEFA have stated that they consider the internet to be the 'fastest, safest and easiest channel' through which to apply for tickets for the upcoming Euro 2008.

There will be at least another sales phase in December when the Qualification is over and the groups for the 2008 Football/Soccer European Championships are drawn.
Around a million tickets will be available for Euro 2008 and UEFA insist that 75% will be sold at affordable prices to real fans. Sponsors and official commercial partners will be allocated around 15%. Media representatives and other VIPs will be given a nominal amount.

You don´t have to pay instantly and your tickets will be lost if you don´t pay in time after being allocated tickets.
The tickets are not personalized on application but you have to provide the names after winning "the lottery".

EURO applications top 500,000

Every single match at the finals has been massively oversubscribed after over 500,000 fans applied for UEFA EURO 2008 tickets via euro2008.com.

Huge demand
A total of 588,716 supporters from 142 countries submitted applications for tickets before the deadline at midnight on 31 March, ordering a total of 10,359,177 tickets. That is 18 times the demand for UEFA EURO 2004 tickets and almost as much as for tickets for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where 10.8 million tickets were requested.

Individual tickets
Of the three types of tickets - Individual Match Tickets, Follow My Team Group and Follow My Team Tournament - the former have been the most popular, with 417,885 applicants requesting 8,467,919 such tickets for the 31 matches. The final in Vienna accounted for 651,141 ticket requests, with 561,565 for the semi-final in Basle and 502,081 for the semi in Vienna.

Dedicated supporters
The Follow My Team tickets proved to be particularly popular with supporters from Germany, Switzerland, England, the Netherlands and Austria. A total of 119,110 fans requested Follow My Team Group tickets - a total of 1,224,564 ticket applications - while 51,721 ordered Follow My Team Tournament tickets, accounting for a further 666,694 tickets.

Next steps
As predicted, all 31 final round games were oversubscribed at the end of the application process. The validity of applications will now be checked with 33 per cent of the total 1.05 million tickets being allocated by a random lottery in mid-April under the supervision of a notary. All users will be informed of the status of their applications by the end of April.

Phase abandoned
Because of the huge initial demand for tickets, the second phase of ticket sales - initially planned to allocate unsold tickets on a first come, first served basis in June 2007 - has now been abandoned. Fans may still be able to get tickets via national associations, who will receive an average of 19 per cent of tickets for all matches involving their team which may be sold to fans after the draw for the finals in December 2007.
